DESCRIPTION:Public Notice\nAerial Spraying in St. John’s County Scheduled \nTo Reduce Mosquito Abundance\nAnastasia Mosquito Control District of St. Johns County as scheduled an aerial spray operation this week for over roughly 200,000 acres within the District’s border to help reduce the number of mosquitoes resulting from flooding in the area. The aerial application will take place between September 18 and September 21, 2024.  Aerial Adult mosquito control operations will be performed by Vector Disease Control, Inc. (VDCI), a mosquito control company.  VDCI holds contingency contracts with multiple Florida Counties and FEMA to provide application of adulticides on an “as-needed” basis.\nThe aerial spray operation is being conducted in response to surveillance findings that indicate increased mosquito populations.  Aerial spraying is necessary to combat and control mosquitoes where ground spraying is less accessible and effective. If there is a weather delay, applications will begin the following night.\nVDCI will be using twin-engine aircraft flying at an altitude of approximately 300 feet to conduct the aerial application for adult mosquitoes.\nFor additional information and/or maps of the intended spray area please visit the Anastasia Mosquito Control District’s website at www.amcdsjc.org\n \n\n
